Upselling is the process that encourages clients to upgrade the product they are purchasing.

As a rule, a product or service promoted is a more expensive product that will allow increasing the overall order value.

For example, if a client purchases a smartphone, an upsell offer can promote a more enhanced model with more memory, a bigger screen, etc.

Cross-selling

Cross-selling is the process that encourages clients to buy products or services in addition to the original items they are about to get.

In most cases, the promoted cross-sell items are complementary to the original product so a client may want to purchase them both at a time.

For example, if a client purchases a smartphone, he may want to buy a phone case in addition to it.
