Show an option only to certain customers or markets
This feature is available on Growth and Scale plans.
Sometimes an option shouldn’t be shown to everyone. You might have engraving that’s only for wholesale buyers, a gift-wrap choice you only offer in the US and Canada, or a bulk-order field meant for your B2B accounts.
You can now limit a single option to specific customer tags, to specific Shopify markets, or both. Shoppers who don’t match simply never see that option — everyone else sees it as usual.
You set this per option, inside the option set, under a section called Visibility restrictions .
Before you start
- The setting is per option, not per value. You restrict the whole option (for example the whole “Engraving” dropdown), not one choice inside it.
- Customer tags only apply to logged-in customers. A shopper who isn’t signed in has no tags, so they won’t see an option that’s restricted to a tag. Keep this in mind for options you want guests to see.
- A shopper is always in exactly one market, decided by their country or region. Market restrictions match against that one market.
Add a restriction to an option
- Open the app and go to Option sets.
- Open the set that contains the option, and make sure you’re on the Options tab.
- Click the option to expand it.
- In the Visibility restrictions section, click Customer tags or Markets.
- Start typing and pick the tags or markets you want from the list.
- Click Done (or save the set) and refresh your storefront to check.
