APO is not compatible with dynamic (express) checkout buttons such as Shop Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. These buttons launch their own checkout flow (often a third-party checkout) and can redirect customers to payment immediately.

APO adds selected options when the customer clicks Add to cart. If the customer is redirected to checkout at that moment, the options will not be saved to the cart, and will be missing from the order.

If you need to keep an express checkout experience, you can use Shopify’s native Buy Now button on products with APO options.

1. Open APO in your Shopify admin.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Enable Use “Buy now” button.

Once enabled, APO will replace dynamic checkout buttons with Shopify’s Buy Now button only on products that have options, so option selections are added correctly before checkout.
